My name is Marte Kristi, and I was born and raised in Sandane, a small place in Sogn og Fjordane with beautiful nature. From a young age, my mother and I painted and did all kinds of crafts together. For years, art and painting were only a hobby — never something I dared to pursue fully. In recent years it has become clearer that this is what I want to do more of — preferably all the time!
In 2024 I decided to give the artist's life a chance and dare to bet on myself. I discovered that I was brave enough, that I was good enough, and that if I believed in myself, I could achieve anything I wanted.
For me, nature has been important for finding more presence in everyday life, and Norwegian nature is therefore a vital source of inspiration when I paint. It creates a calm in me — a place where I can lower my shoulders and be present in the moment. In my art I want to turn the focus inward by painting presence in people and a connection to nature. In that way I hope to inspire others to let go of a little stress and find their way back to a balanced inner life.
If I believed in myself, I could achieve anything I wanted.
